our lack of faith in Jehovah prevents Jehovah from helping us
the phrase is "religion is a snare and a racket", not "religion is a snare and a racquet"
ridicule shows a definite deficiency of love on our part

in the past when god's chosen leader acted without his blessing, god corrected the individual/group in an obvious and miraculous way.
why does it appear, then, that when the gb is "adjusted" it comes from external sources, such as the 1914 generation dying off, or races integrating nationwide.
so I'm sum it all up as reactions to the attitudes of others, hopefully based on some scriptural principles

Christ is the spiritual Head/ Leader of the body Jehovah approves; Christ has the scriptural rights Jehovah has given him. I cannot speak on behalf of the GB since I'm "not one of Jehovah's Witnesses", according to the latest platform announcement I heard regarding me by name. I believe the Jehovah's witnesses (those whome Jehovah accepts as such) are not necessarily the same as JWs (those whom the CCJW classifies as such). The spiritual leadership whom Jehovah accepts, and the physical leadership whom the registering governments recognise, are certainly going to be arrived at by different thinking processes, since Jehovah's ways are higher than man's (Isaiah 55:8).
this is a direct quote from the drama, if my source is correct..... "remember, nobody can really love you unless they know and love jehovah first.".
it gives me an idea for my next blog, but i want to quote this accurately.
your input is appreciated!
NewYork44M: I find it quite offensive to hear that the watchtower corporation views this as meaningless. For them to say that only .005% of the population has love is quite silly. For you to defend that position is embarrassing.
Spike Tassel: In the context of the 2009 Drama, "meaningless" would actually be "spiritually dangerous", because the key phrase (that love for another human is contingent on knowledge and love of Jehovah) was in relation to a "weak Christian" being influenced in their faith by those not OF their faith. I fully agree that if one wants to do well in WT-type FAITH, it must be EXERCISED, and based on faithful reading of WT publications and meetings. One must not FEED from both the "table of Jehovah" and the "table of demons". One gets FAITH from the "table of Jehovah" and DOUBT from the "table of demons". The DOUBT doesn't assist FAITH to grow. Rather, like weeds with good plants, the DOUBT robs nourishment which properly should go on the FAITH. The DOUBT thus grows, while the FAITH withers. UNLESS, one OVERCOMES the evil with the good. For THAT, one must have UNBREAKABLE faith. So, interfaith marriages are NOT for true Christians, as borne out by several Scriptural passages, including the principles found at 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1.

Paul's getting straightened out by Jesus was one refinement (that's in Acts). Paul then straightening out Peter was another one (I believe that's also in Acts). And Apollos was corrected by Aquila and Prisca (also in Acts). Jesus corrected the other apostles (that's in the Gospels), and the seven congregations (in Revelation, chapters 2 and 3). An angel told John not to bow before him (in Revelation). The governing body in Acts 15 gave corrective counsel regarding the matter of circumcision (while making a few other rulings at the same time). Paul wrote to various congregations and individuals to correct various situations, and the letters by John, James, Peter, and Jude did likewise. Many of the corrections in the NT came by new inspirations updating the applications of earlier prophesy.
So, I would expect much the same to take place today. We have assurance in Revelation that an angel "in mid-heavens" takes the lead in the preaching work. The WT publications are like an abundance of "letters" (perhaps new scrolls being opened, as mentioned in Revelation), so that we are well-fed spiritually and can thus make much-more-informed decisions, IF we actually take the time to read through and meditate on all the issues from cover to cover, with the effort required. End-time prophesy includes what is mentioned about the ceasing of some operations of holy spirit, so that has some bearing as to how things will differ today from in the 1st century. These thoughts have come readily to mind, and are hopefully in some reasonable semblance of order to the reader, whoever you are.

to bluecanary:regarding birthday, considering that both birthdays in the Bible were in regards to prophets (namely Joseph as well as John the Baptiser) whowere betrayed, this alone seems to highlight the thoughtlessness or blatant selfish ambition which can result (note those surrounding the birthday boys). We can think of Jesus rebuking the 2 apostles who asked (through their mother) to sit on either side of Jesus, which Jesus said was not for Jesus to give. Satanists celebrate birthdays as part of worship of self. Being no part of the world, not following the crowd for evil ends, tradition "invalidating" the Bible: these are several more ideas that connect with not celebrating birthdays. For me, personally, I stopped celebrating by own birthday several years BEFORE I started studying with JWs. For me, I didn't like some of the gifts (they showed how little people actually knew of my tastes, and how much they were just following custom. Many, especially illiterates have no idea when there birthday is, especially if they lost both of their parents early on, and were raised by strangers. So that there's no favoritism, "no birthdays" seems to be a well-thought-out and sound decision, along the lines of Acts 15:28, where is says "For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things."
regarding the difficulty of salvation, 3 scriptures that come quickly to mind are the following:— there is the narrow door/ gate which is hard to get through, Jesus said (Luke 13:24/ Matthew 7:13-14). there's also the issue of branches being lopped off, and others being grafted in (John 15:1-10).
Both of the foregoing paragraphs assume that the GB has the right to rule (a.k.a. hand down rulings) for the benefit and unity of the CCJW.

The Bible has many of them.

I've just put BLue's follow-up question over at http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/180007/1/where-do-the-refinements-come-from-and-why-do-you-answer-thus for those who are interested in it

If God was making the refinements, wouldn't it clearly come from him, rather than be a reaction to circumstances in the world?
my initial take, personally: Perhaps, it's like in Jonah's day, when Jehovah "repented" from the bad he had planned, choosing to destroy a later, unrepentant lot of Ninevites.
yesterday as our family entered the parking lot of our kh, we realized it was not our congregation entering.
soon afterward we remembered that this week was our co visit and we had missed the tuesday night meeting.
i think it's the first time in over 20 years that i missed a meeting with the co. tonight is our bookstudy/co talk, i wonder if anyone will ask where we were (not likely, everyone is so over us).. it's weird though because a large part of me could care less, and we were laughing about it all the way home.
I've done what I could, as have all the rest. JWinprotest seems to have got the desired input from us all.
